Bonn
Bonn is a city that impresses at first glance with its location on the Rhine and its historical charm. It is one of the oldest cities in Germany and combines history, culture and a modern way of life in a unique way. Visitors immediately sense the relaxed atmosphere that emanates from the well-kept streets of the old town, the spacious green areas and the open, welcoming character of the city.
A tour of the city centre takes you past the baroque Electoral Palace, Bonn Minster and the colourful rows of houses in the old town. Here you can linger in small cafés, stroll through boutiques or visit the weekly market on Münsterplatz. The Rhine promenade offers ideal conditions for walking, cycling or simply enjoying the view of the river and the Siebengebirge mountains opposite.
Bonn is closely associated with Ludwig van Beethoven, who was born here. His birthplace is now a museum that gives visitors an insight into the life and work of the famous composer. Bonn is also a city of music and culture. Concerts, theatre performances and art exhibitions take place all year round. The houses along the so-called Museum Mile, where changing exhibitions of international standing are shown, are particularly popular.

Although Bonn is not a large city in the classic sense, it impresses with its openness and internationality. Numerous UN institutions and international organisations have their headquarters here, which characterises the cityscape and the cultural offerings. At the same time, Bonn has remained down-to-earth – with cosy breweries, Rhenish cuisine and plenty of joie de vivre.

Those seeking relaxation will find it in the Rheinaue, an extensive park area with lakes, flowerbeds and sunbathing lawns. From here, excursions into the nearby Siebengebirge mountains are also possible – for example to the Drachenfels, one of the most famous excursion destinations in the region with a marvellous view over the Rhine valley.
Bonn is not a noisy metropolis, but a city to arrive, discover and feel at home in. Whether for a weekend or a longer stay – once you’ve been here, you’ll often come back.
